They own more than 2,800 acres of land, and operate many thriving successful businesses, including the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel & the Little Six Casino. Tribal members are the direct lineal descendants of the Mdewakanton Dakota people who resided in villages near the banks of the lower Minnesota River. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux are a federally recognized Indian tribe.
